Senior Project Manager, New Construction Program

NYSERDA seeks a senior-level person knowledgeable about building systems, particularly commercial new construction, who will be responsible for managing efforts in the New Construction Program.  The Senior Project Manager must possess strong communication and management skills necessary to supervise, lead and provide continued development for a staff of approximately 3 professionals.  This position also interacts on a regular basis with owners, architects and engineers involved in commercial new construction projects, financial institutions, and national associations dealing with sustainable building design and requires 10 to 20% travel.

The Senior Project Manager’s primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Supervise and provide for continued development of professional staff
  • Manage projects in the New Construction Program
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, the design community, service providers, stakeholders, and trade associations

Project Manager, New Construction Program

NYSERDA seeks an experienced, creative, independent, and self-motivated individual to manage new construction and green building projects for the New Construction Program. The selected individual will have ongoing project management responsibilities as part of NYSERDA’s commitment to electric load management and peak-demand reduction efforts across New York State. This position also interacts on a regular basis with owners, architects and engineers involved in large commercial/industrial new construction projects, and with other stakeholders dealing with sustainable building design. The position requires 20 to 30% travel.

The Project Manager’s primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage projects in the New Construction Program
  • Work with customers and their architect/engineering teams to find the most cost-effective strategies to reduce energy usage and demand

Project Coordinator, New Construction Program

NYSERDA seeks a Project Coordinator to assist in the administration of the New Construction Program.  The incumbent will work closely with several Project Managers in the Program.

The Project Coordinator’s primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Review applications for completeness relative to the requirements of the program
  • Enter application information in the database system and follow appropriate procedures to insure data integrity
  • Generate reports from the database system
  • Monitor approved incentive applications for adherence to the schedule for invoice approval
  • Answer questions on the programs to the general public, applicants and individuals seeking to be an applicant

 

Required minimum qualifications an individual must possess include:

  • The ability to efficiently manage the project administration process and the communications between the various stakeholders
  • Strong computer skills and experience with database management systems

Project Coordinator
Events

NYSERDA seeks a qualified individual to become familiar with the programs and services offered throughout the Authority and promote those initiatives in a variety of venues while staffing a display booth.  This position requires at least 50% travel.

The Events Coordinator’s primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Staff displays and exhibits throughout NYS to promote NYSERDA’s programs
  • Handle administrative duties related to event selection and coordination including processing the necessary internal administrative paperwork, working cooperatively with venue personnel and ensuring that all sponsorship amenities are delivered
  • Promote the conferences and events and handle on-line registration and other related logistics
  • Survey attendees to follow up on events to determine success level and create historical folder to assess future involvement

  • Lead and support the planning and conduct of evaluation activities, assessments, and analyses for NYSERDA’s New York Energy $mart SM and Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard programs as well as other programs and initiatives

Project Manager, Business Partners Programs

NYSERDA seeks a qualified person to participate in the design and delivery of innovative strategies to increase the penetration of energy-efficient equipment, technologies, and services in the commercial and industrial sector.  Projects target business partners, that comprise the distribution network of product manufacturers, vendors, contractors, and energy service firms, and encourage business strategies that support sales of efficient lighting, motors, and HVAC equipment, along with advanced building performance services such as retro-commissioning.  The individual should be knowledgeable about building systems and energy efficiency products and effective business and marketing approaches, particularly those that engage the entities “up-stream” of the end-users. The Project Manager will help NYSERDA jump-start efficiency practices through workforce development activities, training, strategic marketing, incentives, and industry support, related to particular sectors or under-utilized technologies.  

The selected individual will have ongoing project management responsibilities as part of NYSERDA’s commitment to energy-efficiency and peak-demand reduction.  The Project Manager must possess strong communication and management skills necessary to oversee large-scale implementation projects and to provide leadership within a team of approximately 5 professionals.  This position also interacts on a regular basis with utility representatives, business leaders and regional and national associations dealing with market development opportunities and challenges.  This position requires 10 to 20% travel.

The Project Manager’s primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop and implement business strategies that accelerate deployment of efficiency products and solutions that address the energy and environmental challenges faced by commercial customers
  • Develop and implement solicitations to select qualified consultants to deliver comprehensive programs that engage lighting contractors, HVAC contractors, motor vendors, energy services companies, and others as NYSERDA’s Business Partners
  • Manage projects in the Market Development group which include Business Partners, Workforce Development or Energy Smart Focus Programs

Assistant Counsel

NYSERDA seeks an attorney for a position in its Counsel’s Office. 

The Assistant Counsel’s primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide assistance or advice, as assigned, on any of the legal affairs of the Authority, which may include but not be limited to matters related to:
    • Negotiation, drafting and administration of technically sophisticated research, development and demonstration contracts initiated by the Authority’s technical staff
    • Litigation involving the Authority
    • Regulatory proceedings before the Public Service Commission

PeopleSoft Programmer/Analyst

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) seeks an experienced programmer/analyst to join its technology-oriented public benefit corporation to assist in the implementation and ongoing support of Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise suite (Financials, Purchasing, Strategic Sourcing, eSupplier Connnection, Supplier Contract Management, Project Costing, Grants, Contracts, and Asset Management).

The primary responsibilities of this position will be to:

  • Analyze, design, implement, maintain, enhance, and support the implementation of the Peoplesoft Financials product working with an independent consultant integrator and the affected NYSERDA user groups
  • Work with NYSERDA’s database administrator to monitor system performance and administer new and existing Peoplesoft environments
  • Provide accurate time estimates and maintain communication with Peoplesoft Technical Leads and Project Managers
  • Perform design, programming and quality assurance testing using Peoplesoft Application Designer, Application Engine, Process Scheduler, PeopleCode, PeopleTools, HTML, SQR, Crystal Reports, Debugger, Workflow, etc.

Associate Project Manager Data Integrity

This individual will be responsible for establishing, coordinating and maintaining data integrity procedures, processes and policies that efficiently enhance data integrity and staying abreast of peer data integrity processes, methods and technology tools. 

This individual’s primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Evaluate, improve and sustain Quality Control/Quality Assurance on the integrity and validity of EES’ energy efficiency project tracking data by:
    • Using data profiling to discover the quality, characteristics and potential problems of information contained in the database
    • Using information technology systems, methods, and vendors to plan, implement, and coordinate an aggressive data integrity program that will focus on maintaining accurate data records
    • Understanding the energy projects the data defines and address incorrect information
    • Using data analysis and data mining, analyze EES’ project tracking data from different perspectives to find correlations or patterns, leading to increased participation in NYSERDA’s energy efficiency programs
  • Evaluate required reporting needs, develop reporting instruments and report to staff on program and project status on a regular basis
  • Develop procedures for preparing all required EES reports using the project tracking database and update constituent records as needed in keeping with established policies and procedures
  • Establish and maintenance of key relationships with various NYSERDA program units.  Through extensive coordination with information technology staff, interact with vendors responsible for the development of a new financial accounting database (Peoplesoft) to ensure data can be transferred between this new database and the existing EES database.
  • Create and implement a data entry users group within EES whose purpose will be to address data integrity issues, policies and procedures
  • Assist in the creation and supervise the monitoring of audit reports that ensure the success of data integrity procedures

Required minimum qualifications an individual must possess include:

  • At least 3 years related experience to data integrity issues
  • At least 2 years of database experience
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, ability to work successfully in a team environment along with strong written and oral communications skills

Project Manager, Low Income Affordability and Education Strategies
REAP

NYSERDA seeks a Project Manager to help develop and implement an innovative, technically credible energy education program for K-12 teachers.  The energy education program covers a range of activities designed to enhance energy education including free teacher workshops and curricular materials.  In this role, you will interact on a regular basis with one or more contractors, approximately 30 Energy Educators, the Department of Environmental Conservation and the State Education Department and may manage up to two direct reports. This position requires 10 to 15% travel.

Subject to change based on program needs, the Project Manager’s primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop and monitor statements of work and budget for Energy Smart Students implementation contractors. The contractor is responsible for training and support of up to 30 Energy Educators in the delivery of an estimated 100 energy literacy workshops each year for an estimated 1,500 teachers.
  • Coordinate the review and approval of program materials including a bi-monthly newsletter, workshop marketing materials, website partner pages, program database, and program reports
  • Participate in Energy Smart Students team to plan and coordinate program activities with other NYSERDA staff
  • Oversee development of agenda and materials for a 4-day Energy Educator Institute held each summer to introduce new Energy Educators to the activities based energy literacy materials and enhance the skills of returning energy educators
  • Develop and implement processes for selection, training, and support of Energy Educators
  • Recommend modifications to the Energy Educator Participation Agreements and updating the program procedures manual

Required minimum qualifications an individual must possess include:

DIRECTOR OF ENERGY PROGRAMS

NYSERDA seeks a Director of Energy Programs (NYC) to lead NYSERDA’s program activities in the Downstate Region (generally the Con Edison Service Territory).  The Director will plan, coordinate, and implement NYSERDA’s program offerings for commercial, industrial, and residential customers in the Downstate region.   The Director will report to NYSERDA’s Vice President for Programs and be responsible for overseeing approximately 20 professional regional office staff, while also closely coordinating with NYSERDA’s Albany office management and program staff. 

NYSERDA offers a range of energy efficiency, market transformation, product acquisition, peak load reduction, renewable energy resource, and research and development programs designed to reduce energy consumption, increase grid reliability and encourage clean energy supply services.  Technical assistance, training, and a range of financial incentives and programs have been designed and implemented to achieve these objectives.  In addition, programs have been developed to reduce the energy burden for the state’s low-income populations and small businesses and institutions.

The Director must have experience with the residential and/or commercial energy markets in the Downstate region along with the knowledge and skills to define energy issues, address energy policies, address environmental and economic development opportunities, and deliver energy programs to all sectors. In particular, the Director must be able to identify the unique conditions and challenges of the Downstate region, and coordinate marketing, incentive structures, and special requirements with other NYSERDA Directors to enable effective delivery of statewide and regional programs.

The Director must also have the ability to work effectively in complex, multi-organizational teams, with the goal of developing well-coordinated programs and strong working relationships with governmental, utility, and business stakeholders.  The Director must increase NYSERDA's presence before key consumer groups and associations, and establish good working arrangements to facilitate broad program deployment in support of their members' energy needs.

The Director will have budgetary responsibilities and is part of the Senior Management Team and a key member in helping to set priorities and operational plans for all of NYSERDA.

The Director must possess the communication and management skills necessary to supervise and provide for continued development of professional staff, maintain strong relationships between NYSERDA staff in multiple office locations, interact and manage relationships with key stakeholders, and build political and organizational support for NYSERDA’s programs.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy policy, building science, marketing, business management, or related field, with a minimum of seven years of relevant technical experience, and three years managerial experience is required. An unrelated Bachelor’s degree plus ten years of relevant technical experience and five years managerial experience will also be considered. Relevant master’s degree is strongly preferred. A P.E. or A.I.A. is a plus but not required.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is seeking a person for a Project Manager position to work in the Residential Efficiency and Affordability Program (REAP) group.  The person will be an integral part of a dynamic team responsible for the administration of NYSERDA’s innovative, market-based energy efficiency programs that target the new and existing, 1-4 family residential housing markets.  These programs, collectively known as the Home Performance Programs consist of the New York ENERGY STAR® Homes (new construction) and Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® (existing housing) Programs.  The person should have experience in developing policy for, and management of, residential energy efficiency programs and an understanding of the market, including new home builders and developers, home improvement contractors, housing advocacy groups and governmental agencies (Federal and State) involved in construction and management of residential housing.  Experience in residential construction and a background in building science is also preferred.
 
Under direction of the Program Manager, the person will be part of the team that administers the low-rise residential market transformation projects related to quality installation of subsystems within this building type, associated building and product codes and standards, and trade specific barriers for implementing products and services. The person will coordinate with other national and regional programs and organizations, as well as industry manufacture and distributor representatives.   

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in architecture, environmental science, building technology, construction or project management, urban planning/public administration, business, or a related degree focused on energy efficiency, building technology or engineering.  A Master’s degree is a plus.

Strong technical background and knowledge of residential energy efficiency issues, technologies and products, as well as the national ENERGY STAR® program is preferred. Previous supervisory responsibility is desirable.
