Lighting Certification
The National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) is a non-profit organization that establishes the education, experience and examination requirements for baseline certification across the lighting professions. As part of their mission, they have established a certification process by which practitioners in lighting and related fields, through testing, demonstrate their knowledge and experience across the lighting professions. This is the Lighting Certified (LC) credential. According to the NCQLP:
- The LC credential demonstrates to clients/customers and your peers that you and your employees have acquired the necessary knowledge, understanding, and ability to apply lighting principles and techniques successfully.
- The LC indicates your and your employees' commitment to career development and professional practice.
- The LC acknowledges your and your employees' broad knowledge base in an increasingly specialized practice making everyone a valuable asset to not only your company, but also the industry as well.

SCLP offers incentives to individuals who are full-time employees of a Program Participant and who complete the Lighting Certification (LC) Examination after September 3, 2003. The individual is eligible for this incentive even if his or her employer became a Program Participant after the November 2003 examination was administered. The incentive offsets a major portion of the LC examination registration fee.
